Michelle is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working in a range of organisations both in the private and public sectors.

Michelle started her clinical work overlooking the agricultural fields of Massey University in Palmerston North, where she gained an Honours Degree in Social Work and Social Policy (1993) and a desire to really understand the human mind in the context of the world we live in.  She put this enthusiasm to use while working as a Social Worker, Counsellor and Specialist Interviewer for Child Youth & Family and NZ Police while overlooking the geysers and mud pools of Rotorua.

A return to university to complete post-graduate studies at The University of Auckland enabled her to gain a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychology (2002) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2003), which has enabled her to apply science-informed knowledge and practice to assist individuals to deepen their awareness and confidently arrive at actions that are sustainable and far-reaching.

As well as her private practice, Michelle has worked in a number of specialist services, including child and youth mental health, adult mental and physical health, and has provided specialist and expert witness services to the Ministry of Justice.  In her current practice she enjoys working where the maunga of Mt Eden overlooks her.

Michelle is well known for her deep warmth and ability to build trust with her clients, and is highly regarded for her sensitive, intuitive and connection with people.  She is passionate about investing in people, growing potential and promoting the wellbeing others.

Michelle has extensive training and experience in using a range of therapeutic modalities in her work and identifies the right treatment for each person.  She draws on this knowledge and experience in an integrative way, incorporating skills based approaches alongside a strong focus on interpersonal and depth psychology.  She is able to confidently implement a range of psychological theories and models, including Psychodynamic and Jungian Analytic therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.   She wants her clients to take away tools as well as being able to discover what is really going on.

Michelle is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.  She is registered under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 and holds the Clinical Scope of Practice.
